About Forest Lawn Cemetery, Dallas

The beautiful 23-acre Forest Lawn Cemetery is located in Dallas, Texas, just minutes from downtown.  When visiting this unique site you will notice the quiet in a busy city. The Forest Lawn Cemetery was established in 1923 and quickly became the desired cemetery of prominent Dallas families. Visiting Forest Lawn Cemetery you will see some of the founding fathers of Dallas’ names on their family markers. The American Legion Section was dedicated in 1929 and many fine American soldiers are buried here.  Every Memorial Day there is a Flag Raising ceremony to honor our fallen soldiers. The Cemetery is a non-profit association owned and operated by the lot owners.  A Board of Trustees is annually elected and all lot owners are invited to the annual meeting in March.

Interestingly parrots make their home in the cemetery during the summer. Seasonal flowers are planted throughout the cemetery to bring nature into the heart of this big city.  The front gate opens at 7:30am and closes at 6pm daily. The grounds are regularly observed by the On-site Manager and grounds keeper.
